25 Sean Connery Quotes That Will Inspire Confidence

Sir Sean Connery is an Academy Award winning Scottish actor, widely known for his distinctive voice and accent -- a voice that in itself celebrates individuality.

The
charming actor had a modest upbringing in a neighborhood known as “the street
of a thousand smells”. His father was a truck driver and his mother a cleaning
lady. The family was very poor, but young Connery didn’t know exactly how poor
they were since everyone around had just as much as they did. At only 13, he
had to drop school and get a full time job in order to help ends meet.

Connery began his acting career by accident. After being released from service, he decided to participate in a Mr. Universe competition, where he won the third place. A casting director saw and liked the handsome Scottish and asked him to join the chorus of an upcoming production. And this is pretty much how Sean Connery went from being a poor boy to becoming the sly and seductive British secret agent – James Bond.

In 2000, he was officially knighted by Queen Elizabeth II, and soon after that he publicly retired from acting.

Here are 25 Sean Connery quotes and movie lines that inspire confidence:

May God grant us the wisdom to discover right, the will to choose it, and the strength to make it endure.

Your background and environment is with you for life. No question about that.

There's one major difference between James Bond and me. He is able to sort out problems!

If America had been discovered as many times as I have, no one would remember Columbus.

Perhaps I'm not a good actor, but I would be even worse at doing anything else.

I'm fed up with the idiots... the ever-widening gap between people who know how to make movies and the people who green-light the movies.

I take the good with the bad. I can’t love people in slices.

You just fulfilled the first rule of law enforcement: make sure when your shift is over you go home alive.

They say if you resort to violence, then you've already lost.

There are laws that enslave men, and laws that set them free.

I'm an actor - it's not brain surgery. If I do my job right, people won't ask for their money back.

If anything could have pulled me out of retirement, it would have been an Indiana Jones film. But in the end, retirement is just too much fun.

25 Great Immanuel Kant Quotes on Pure Reason and Morality

Immanuel Kant (22 April, 1724 – 12 February, 1804) was a great German philosopher of the Enlightenment Era. His most popular work is the Critique of Pure Reason . Before becoming a full professor at the University of Konigsberg he worked as a tutor while exploring the middle ground between rationalism and empiricism . Kant argues that humans only believe in the things that are sure to exist; things we’ve seen or touched. In reality, there are many other things out there that remain unknown to us yet, but that doesn’t make them less real. Kant focused on ethics and morals and the way they affect our reasoning . He proposed a moral law called the “categorical imperative” -- an unconditional obligation often known as the principle of universalizability. According to it, one cannot make exceptions for oneself if one claims to be moral. Once we accept a wrongdoing by blaming circumstances, we make it a universally acceptable act. We aren't all philosophers, but we can...
